Very few authors in the history of literature have had the ability to develop dialogues and give life to characters in such an elegant, ironic and astute way as the British author Jane Austen. Montblanc has created the Jane Austen Writers' Edition to pay tribute to one of the most famous authors of British literature.
This edition revives the Regency period, in which the estates of the nobles were the scene of great festivals that were celebrated with the purpose of cultivating social relationships and forging marital alliances. A classic column groove decorates the elegant sandstone gray resin body, along with Jane Austen's signature.
The contrasting grey-blue hood is a reference to the type of double-collared coat commonly worn during the Regency by gentlemen, such as Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice. Gold-plated rings on the body and platinum-plated details add the finishing touch to the design. The engraving of the Roman numeral XLIII on the cap ring is a reference to the chapter of the novel in which Elizabeth Bennet visits Mr. Darcy's estate for the first time.
The cover of her novel Sense and Sensibility, published in 1811, declared that the work had been written By a Lady, that is, by a woman. The statement of authorship adorns the top of the cap of the Writers' Edition Homage to Jane Austen Edition, along with the Montblanc emblem.
The silhouette of the writing instrument is reminiscent of a wax seal. The clip is as unusual as the cap. In the form of a braided cord with a drawstring closure, it evokes a small purse (the reticule bag), a type of bag used by women in the early 19th century to carry powder, a mirror and the indispensable pocket square.
