This edition is inspired by the famous painting by Vincent Van Gogh, "Oiran", 1888, oil on cotton, also known as "La Courtisane". Van Gogh based this painting on a woodblock print by Japanese artist Kesai Eisen.
The print had been reproduced on the cover of the magazine Paris illustré in 1886. Van Gogh used a grid to copy and enlarge the Japanese figure. He used bright colors and bold strokes, like a woodcut.
The name of the painting and the artist are delicately engraved around the ring of the writing instrument, and each edition is packaged in a unique gift box that is complemented by a faithfully reproduced canvas of the painting.
It has an eighteen facet Visconti design, the many edges enhance the vivid colors of the pen.
